If I had, to sum up, this project in one word, that word would be unique.
If you've read through the previous pages of my 11th grade English experience then you know that I have integrated that word into my writing numerous times. This is due to an obvious reason: this project holds many unique layers. Colleen was flexible while designing and discussing this experience. As a class, we even sat down and talked about what did and didn't like. I mean, what other schools can do that?! #HTHI Regardless, this process definitely implemented student voice into it.
I not only gained filmmaking skills but learned to look at people through a different lens especially before I've met them. Preconceived notions are often times incorrect, so wiping off your everyday lens, taking a second look at things, and assuming the best will only result in positivity.
In addition to those benefits, I realized that I have many commonalities to those around me. At first glance, no, we aren't that similar, But dig a couple inches beneath the surface and you'll find that often times we're made of the same thing.
All in all, this project gave me another viewpoint on which to look out on this world we live, and as I write this reflection these points are only made clearer.
